Seven Walsall swimmers braved the Covid plagued streets of Coventry for the 2021 West Midlands Swimming Festival in July.winning 2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes. An Amazing achievement!
In the 12 year old 400m freestyle, Imogen Neal got a massive PB of over 6 seconds. Also in the 12 year old age category was Christian Neal who swam the 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly. In these events he got 2 long course PBs and overall 1 PB. In the 13 year old age category, Tiffany Latham won 2 golds in 100m and 200m butterfly and 1 silver in the 200m freestyle along with 2 PBS and 1 long course PB. Tiffany is also ranked 13th in the British National Leaderboard in the 200m butterfly. In the 14 year old 100m and 200m breaststroke, Lachlan Woodend gained 2 long course PBs. Gracie Bull also competed in the 14 year old 100m butterfly and got a fantastic 8.93 second long course PB. Lily Neal also achieved a long course PB in the 14 year old 200m backstroke. Amber Valletta swam under Royal Wolverhampton SC but is a long time Walsall member, won 2 Bronze place finishes in the 14 year old 100m and 200m breaststroke and got a long course PB in the 200m individual medley. She is also ranked 25th in the British National Leaderboard in the 200m breaststroke. Ben Dodwell also swam under Royal Wolverhampton SC but is also a Walsall member swam in the 14 year old 200m backstroke and gained a PB. Finally, Alicia Dingle competed in the open age group 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle. In these events she won a Silver and a Bronze. Alicia is also ranked 25th in the British National Leaderboard in the 200m freestyle. Congratulations to all swimmers for their outstanding performances at this Regional Event!
